I may have to read some of the books you list. My inquisitive spouse has discovered my family tree traces directly to that first Plymouth colony. But whether I read another book or not, thank you for challenging us to keep in mind that gratitude is so very basic to our fragile existence.
Our local council is constantly referring the Wabanaki tribes that were here in the region I live. I will surely want to read about those wars. All the words they repeat over and over when in every part of their lives they are witnessing the opposite of equality, sustainability, etc. Inverted to say the least. I'm seeing real shifts happening now and not soon enough. Young people are especially shifting away from the fake trust programmed into them.
Throughout the 16th and 17th centuries the Wabanaki confederacy in the area of present-day Maine repeatedly engaged in the conquest, displacement and theft of territory of neighboring tribes. The Wabanaki-affiliated Mi’kmaq stole land along the Maine coast from Etchemin-speaking tribes. From 1610 through the 1640s the Mi’kmaq had through bloody conquest seized territory from the Etchemin as far west as the Penobscot River.

Thanks for all of that. I'm seeing openings, or should I say puncture holes by the public challenging doctrines that weren't there before because there is real pushback. They are seeing it locally big time. Great schools? but why are so many parents yanking them out? Hazardous Overlay Zone proposals to loot private property sovereignty and wealth by the do gooders who haven't a clue who their master is? I spoke up at that meeting. It was packed because people knew they were getting scammed but didn't know how to articulate or didn't have the confidence to demand answers to the right questions. I turned to the whole room and told them that they better pay attention to this and I told them why. Shortly after the council decided to "revisit" the proposal. But they won't stop of course. I was thanked by citizens that said they were too afraid to speak as they thought they would lose their composure because of anger. Here's what we can show them how to do. Empowering them to say what they are feeling. They have the right to err. More importantly, the right to speak truth. The looting is accelerating and no one is talking about it until now. Never had to speak at a political event in twenty years but forced to do so three times in a couple of months. It was far more influential than I imagined it would be. All three issues were slowed significantly. I don't know what is happening to a woman who feared public speaking all her life but something has taken over and it surely is divinely inspired is the only explanation. How specifically correct you are on so much that few even know of what they are really witnessing.
To get out from in front of our screens and in the public eye is the path to using our influence where it truly counts.
Screen time is, at its best, only perusal, generally it is not activism.
We have many freedoms that remain available to us and we should use them to educate and raise awareness in our fellow citizens and do so in person, with civility and mutual respect. This includes a display of self-respect.
Our people have lost the respect of other people because we do not respect ourselves.
Witness our shabby clothing, gratuitously obscene language and slovenliness.
The desire for short-cuts to enlightenment and knowledge via the Internet is chimerical.
Carpentry skills are gained by long immersion in the craft. The ability to detect fraud is gained from wide and diverse reading and analysis of books comprised of competing theses. Hours of sustained, uninterrupted concentration followed by, if possible, discussion with others equally dedicated to the corps of discovery.
Chimerical, yes. I feel we must send out a heavy warning and rebuke of AI all together, especially to the youth. I feel it is their final weapon against all aspects of what it is to be a human being.
