The Nuremberg System: Conceptual Bases of World Order from 1933 to Present

Thomas Cyr’s The Nuremberg System: Conceptual Bases of World Order from 1933 to Present, is a thinly veiled attempt at rehabilitating the reputation of the criminal mass murderer Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party.
The main argument is predicated on an indictment of the Nuremberg Tribunals and the crimes of the Allies in what we have been programmed to believe was “The Good War” waged by “the Greatest Generation.”
As the author correctly points out, the United States, Britain and the Soviet Union committed massive war crimes, and what is more, the Nuremberg Tribunal was unjust, a case of victor’s “justice.” From these facts he builds his case for Hitler and the Nazis. He does so by omitting the vast crimes of Hitler, or explaining them away.
It is instructive to examine the author’s treatment of the Spanish Civil War which began in 1936. It was fought between the Stalinist-backed “Republicans” and Francisco Franco’s “Nationalists.”
Indifference to Polish Catholic Resistance to the Nazis
The author’s apparent indifference to Polish resistance to the Nazis and their Stalinist allies in September 1939 is manifested by the fact that he omits it.
He writes, “The Spanish nation in particular was seen as a bastion of traditional religiosity as well as the designated battleground between a vicious and homicidal Bolshevist ideology.”
To which I reply, the Polish nation was a “bastion of traditional religiosity” as well as a “battleground between a vicious and homicidal” Nazi ideology allied to a Bolshevik one.
Mr. Cyr writes, “Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Oliveira de Salazar called upon Portuguese manhood to defend the Iberian way of life and the Roman Catholic faith against the Communists in Spain…”
Where was the “call” for European “manhood” to defend the Slavic way of life and the Catholic faith against the Nazis and Communists in Poland? Mr. Cyr does not scruple to say. I was under the impression that Poland was part of Europe.
It seems that the Slavic struggle against the Nazis and their Soviet partners was not significant enough to bear mentioning. Moreover, to do so would substantially undercut the tenor of the author’s fallacious insinuation that Hitler and his Nazis were defenders of western civilization and Christian heritage.
Hitler’s “Morgenthau Plan” for the Slavs
With his initiation in 1919 under Dietrich Eckart and other occultists in Thule-Gesellschaft (Hitler dedicated the second volume of Mein Kampf to Eckart), the future führer was taught that the Slavs were not fully human. From this esoteric indoctrination he devised a Morgenthau-type plan which he hoped to impose on Poland and Russia.
According to revisionist historian Ernst Nolte:
“In Hitler’s Table Talk, Hitler drew a picture of the future of the Eastern European territories which is one of the best authenticated of his life’s visions and typical of his weltanschauung, which entailed the total disfranchisement of the subjugated. He ruled they have no claims of any kind, except to an early death.
“ They are forbidden to learn to read and write; to concern themselves with history or politics is a crime worthy of death. Any communication whatever going beyond the confines of the village is strictly prohibited...They are to live in their filthy hovels without hygiene or inoculation, while the German settlers, strictly segregated, own splendid villages and spacious fortress farms.”
Goebbels’ “Lament”
Mr. Cyr states: “Reichsminister Joseph Goebbels lamented, in the midst of this earliest iteration of (the Allied) shock and awe firepower turned indiscriminately against non-military targets, that it was inconceivable even to the most depraved mind or cynical heart that the Americans and the British (the latter of whom had been offered unconditional peace on half a dozen occasions since London’s ill-fated and strategically illogical war declaration against Germany) would be presiding over the systematic, physical destruction of Europe, in alliance with the Bolsheviks” (Kindle edition, p. 34).
We are supposed to believe that “Reichsminister” Goebbels, whose depraved mind and cynical heart led him to order his own six children (who ranged in age from four to twelve), killed prior to his demise and that of his complicit wife, was shocked by the “indiscriminate” killing of non-military targets by the Allies. This is risible stuff.
Goebbels ordered the expulsion of much of the Jewish population of Berlin into the combat zone of Russia where the Wehrmacht was struggling with catastrophically depleted resources and the onslaught of the Red Army. Goebbels did so knowing the commanders could not provide for the refugees and would shoot the Jews en masse, which is what occurred. These massacres were Goebbels’ intention.
Hitler’s Fire-Bombing of Warsaw
Moreover, he was delighted with the Luftwaffe’s firebombing of Warsaw and its civilian population. Cyr anguishes over the terror bombing of the city of Dresden by the Allies, as we all should. He has nothing to say however, about the Nazi terror-bombing of the city of Warsaw.
Between September 13 and September 27, using incendiary ordnance (Brandbomben C50 and C250—containing oil-based mixtures and magnesium-thermite fillers), the Nazi air force indiscriminately fire-bombed the city of Warsaw, including hospitals, schools, churches and synagogues.
Luftwaffe records confirm their use of incendiaries in 1939 in Warsaw (Bundesarchiv RL 2/III/149). The heaviest single day of Nazi bombing occurred on Tuesday, September 25 when the Luftwaffe launched 400 sorties, dropping 5,000 tons of high-explosive and incendiary bombs on the Polish capital (cf. Bundesarchiv RL 2/III/149). The entire city was targeted, with no discernible distinction made between military and civilian areas. Approximately 10,000 civilians were killed, and 35,000 wounded, with 30% of Warsaw’s buildings destroyed or severely damaged.
Goebbels had a similar giddy reaction when Hitler’s forces were bombing and starving the civilian population of Stalingrad.
Moreover, we know from his diary entry of May 27, 1942 that he was sanguine about the mass murder of Jews:
“Beginning with Lublin, the Jews in the General Government (German-occupied central and southern Poland) are now being evacuated (abgeschoben) eastward. The procedure is a pretty barbaric one and not to be described here more definitely. Not much will remain of the Jews. On the whole it can be said that about 60 percent of them will have to be liquidated (liquidiert)…” (Die Tagebücher von Joseph Goebbels, 1941-1945; De Gruyter Saur).
Mr. Cyr assures us however, that Goebbels “lamented” Allied mass murder. Cyr’s myopia is breathtaking.
The author states, “Nor was Adolf Hitler an ‘obsessive’ hater of Jews, as is endlessly alleged in American and British polemical screeds passed off as academically rigorous history books. The Führer was personally close to a number of racial Jews throughout his life, including the physician Eduard Bloch, SS-Oberführer and one-time Oberster SA-Führer, and founding member of the Schutzstaffel Emil Maurice, Luftwaffe Feldmarschall Erhard Milch, among others.”
Let us consider the previous statement in light of Hitler’s Reichstag speech of January 30, 1939: “I wish to be a prophet again today: should international finance Jewry in and outside of Europe succeed in plunging the nations once again into a world war, the result will not be the Bolshevization of the world and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe.”
Furthermore, on October 25, 1941, Hitler uttered, during a private dinner with his co-conspirators SS chief Heinrich Himmler and Reinhard Heydrich, commander of the Reichssicherheitshauptamt (Nazi Germany’s Department of Homeland Security):
“In Parliament [30 January 1939 and 1941], I prophesied of Jewry that the Jew will disappear from Europe if war is not avoided. This criminal race has to account for two million deaths in World War I, and now again hundreds of thousands. Don’t anybody tell me that we cannot send them into the morass! Who cares about our people? It is good if the terror precedes us that we are exterminating Jewry.” (Cf. Werner Jochmann, Monologe im Führerhauptquartier: Die Aufzeichnungen Heinrich Heims (Hamburg, 1980); Hitler’s Table Talk, 1941–1944: His Private Conversations, edited by Hugh Trevor-Roper, translated by Norman Cameron and R.H. Stevens (Enigma Books, 2000.).
Mr. Cyr wants us to know that “To be clear, the Führer was absolutely and uncompromisingly anti-Jewish, and he identified the Jewish people as the seminal and intractable adversary of the German people. He was not, however, a maniacally irrational hater of the Jews.”
The author appears to be saying that we should cut the führer some slack given that he “was not a maniacally irrational hater.” Phantasmagoric distinctions like that seriously detract from the credibility of the author.
“Peace Offer” or Farce?
He states that the “British…had been offered (by Hitler) unconditional peace on half a dozen occasions…” (and rejected them).
This is a staple of the presentation by Darryl Cooper (who wrote the foreword to Mr. Cyr’s book), in his first interview with Tucker Carlson in 2024. It has a veneer of plausibility if one commences an account of these offers after Hitler’s rape of Poland. By beginning from October 6, 1939 onward, Hitler’s record in Poland in September is overlooked.
The legend has it that the October 6 offer was a sincere peace-making effort and that Britain’s rejection, driven by Winston Churchill’s baleful influence on Neville Chamberlain, prolonged the war unnecessarily.
On the contrary, by Hitler’s connivance, by the end of September nearly half of Christian Poland was in the hands of the Nazis’ mass murdering Communist-atheist allies, and the other half had been subjugated by the Nazis themselves.
Hitler was telegraphing to the English a message: now that I have what I want, having torn asunder and conquered Poland, killing tens of thousands of civilians, let’s make peace.
One detects a whiff of anti-Slavic bigotry in the near erasure of Hitler’s crimes in Poland. It seems that in Messrs. Cyr and Cooper’s world the fact of the terror and murder of the Polish people does not detract from the fundamental sincerity of the Hitler “peace” offer.
A mere eleven days after the height of the Luftwaffe’s terror bombing of Warsaw and while cooperating with Joseph Stalin in the latter’s conquest of nearly half of the eastern part of the nation, magnanimous Adolf was prepared to sit down with the British and make a chivalrous deal. This is farcical.
If Slavs are less than human then Hitler’s October proposal to Britain will appear to be the good will offer which Cooper and Cyr claim that it was. Unfortunately for their viewpoint, the Nazi and Communist mass murder in Poland could not be reversed by Britain betraying its alliance with the Catholic nation. The slaughter was a harbinger of more shedding of innocent blood, not an indicator of a sincerely peace-loving regime in Berlin.
Those who seek to rehabilitate a murderous, might-is-right tyrant who personified lawless one-man rule, will reanimate atavistic forces which will bury any contemporary Christian populist movement for national renewal. The fact that Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin were often no less homicidal, in no way vitiates Hitler’s horrendous iniquity.
