All that Blood: Why I Did Not Vote for Trump
Idaho has early voting. I cast my ballot for the Constitution Party

“Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand?”
—Macbeth, Act II. Scene 2
Idaho where I reside has early voting with photo ID. I voted last week for the Constitution Party candidate. Trump will carry Idaho overwhelmingly so my vote didn’t matter one way or another and can be dismissed as an inconsequential act of protest.
It was indeed a protest, but there’s nothing inconsequential about it. I won’t be complicit in the mass murder in my name, with my taxes, of Palestinian and Lebanese, women, children, and non-combatant men.
All the blood of those innocents who are no less beloved by Almighty God than our own people, can no more be washed away than Lady Macbeth could wash away the blood of the victims she incited her husband to slay.
All that blood can no more be washed away than the blood of the innocent unborn human beings slaughtered in abortion clinics up to the ninth month and final minutes before they enter this world.
Mr. Trump has pledged to give a blank check to his crony, mass murderer Binyamin Netanyahu. He has urged the Israeli leadership to bomb Iran and its nuclear facilities. He is an enthusiastic backer of the shedding of the blood of the innocent in Lebanon and Palestine. He will send the ghouls who are perpetrating genocide, more bombs, rockets, missiles and ammunition to escalate the bloodshed.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” —Galatians 6:7
According to the New Testament, we reap what we sow. The bright face that J. D. Vance and Elon Musk are putting on Trump is a pitiful, tawdry charade.
The price of the giddy reforms and “amazing future” that are promised if Trump is reelected is all that blood —and more— in Palestine and Lebanon. Vance, Musk, Trump and Kennedy are drunk with the blood of the innocent, otherwise they would never endorse a man who has promised to support Israeli war crimes in perpetuity.
“A voice is heard in Ramah,
weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because they are no more.” (Matthew 2:18)
I can’t be party to the killing of the innocent, whether in the womb or outside of it.
I can’t find it in my conscience to vote for one group of killers whose name is Republican over another group whose name is Democrat.
I can’t deceive myself into thinking that so many good things will accrue from a Trump administration when I see the faces of sweet, innocent Palestinian children lying dead in the dust of Gaza. This is far too high a price to pay for the happy-days-will-be-here-again euphoria that is forecast if Donald Trump returns to the White House.
Underneath that exhilarating prophecy is a terrible reality which Americans have pushed out of their minds— that there is no real choice between Kamala and Donald.
Cut off US taxpayer funds and armaments to the bandit state and you end or severely curtail the massacre of the innocent. You save lives. Neither candidate of the two major parties has the integrity, courage or ethics to undertake that act of mercy. Each of us can shoulder that Christian obligation by withholding our vote from these two merciless politicians.
Not in My Name
I will not allow Trump to back the Israeli mass murder of the innocent in my name, whether they are Muslim innocents or Christian ones.
Five to ten percent of the civilians who’ve been butchered in Palestine and Lebanon are Christians. They have been dehumanized and dismissed in part because the “evangelical” churches in the U.S. don’t regard Catholic and Orthodox Christians who comprise the majority of the believers in those regions, to be actual followers of Christ.
Given all the blood of the innocent that has been shed, I could not vote for Donald Trump for President. Like Harris, he is another Herod, as Chris Hedges documents:
“Israel has killed at least 43,163 people in Gaza and wounded 101,510 in Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023. An estimated 1,139 people were killed – some by Israeli forces — in Israel during the incursion by armed Palestinian fighters into Israel and more than 200 were taken captive.
“In Lebanon, at least 2,787 people have been killed and 12,772 wounded since the Israeli assault on Gaza began…Israel has carried out more than 93 massacres.
“U.N. investigators concede the numbers of dead in Gaza are probably a vast undercount given that at least 10,000 people, including 4,000 children, are missing, probably buried under the rubble, where “the voices of those trapped and dying are often audible.” Other Palestinians, an “uncertain number,” have been seized by Israeli forces and ‘disappeared.’
“Israel has repeatedly attacked aid distribution sites, tent encampments, hospitals, schools and markets“through the indiscriminate use of aerial and sniper fire….at least 13,000 children, including more than 700 babies, have been killed, many shot in the head and chest, while approximately 22,500 Palestinians have sustained life-changing injuries.”
You will not perpetrate this carnage in my name, Mr. Trump!

Well said Mr. Hoffman. As an Orthodox Christian myself I have voted 3rd party.
I share in the justified lamentations. But, I keep in mind that this (mostly self induced) evil has been with us since the beginning and then a solution was provided when God walked among us to share the good news. Mr Hoffman is one of the few that, by his gifted writings, have helped keep my faith alive. He really is one of the reasons why I don't dispair. There was something in one of his newsletters that stuck with me (and I can't express it as well as he) that went something like..."being hopeful is to believe in the ultimate efficacy of truth". Thanks Michael.
