Allen Welsh Dulles (1893-1969), a pillar of the old money American Establishment, was the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which had been signed into existence by President Harry Truman in 1947. Dulles had been involved in espionage since the administration of Woodrow Wilson and World War I, during which he set up his own Czech mistress for murder by the British Secret Service. He turned his own son and namesake, Allen Dulles Jr. over to the CIA’s MK-ULTRA experimental mind control program, under the supervision of Dr. Harold Wolff, a student of the notorious Soviet psychiatrist Ivan Pavlov.
Architect of the failed CIA invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs in April, 1961, he is believed to have been a lead player in organizing the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, who dismissed him from the agency in November, 1961. His brother, John Foster Dulles (1888-1959) was President Dwight Eisenhower’s Secretary of State. His nephew, Avery Dulles (1918-2008), John Foster’s son, was a Jesuit cardinal.
Both John Foster Dulles and his grandfather, John Watson Foster (1836-1917) served as U.S. Secretary of State; John Watson Foster served under President Benjamin Harrison. Both Allen and his brother were directors of the powerful Wall Street law firm of Sullivan and Cromwell, whose clients included the DuPont chemical company and the Rockefeller’s Standard Oil corporation.
Allen Dulles was married to Martha “Clover” Todd, a wealthy, beautiful—though emotionally troubled—lady who became a misery-ridden psychotic while married to him. She was a patient of the famous Swiss psychiatrist Dr. Carl Jung. After Jung, she was treated for years by Jolande Jacobi, a female psychoanalyst. Mrs. Dulles’ younger brother Paul killed himself at age 21. The couple’s oldest daughter, Toddie, was the subject of numerous electroshock treatments. Their only son was forced to submit to insulin shock by MK-ULTRA psychiatrists.
In despair, Mrs. Dulles befriended a patient of Dr. Jung, her husband’s mistress, Mary Bancroft, the wife of a Swiss banker. Bancroft’s stepmother was the daughter of Clarence Barron, the owner of the Wall Street Journal. Mary Bancroft’s father killed himself in middle age, or so the story goes. The people in Allen Dulles’ inner circle both male and female were largely products of the monied elite, and yet they were often mentally disturbed human wrecks who dwelled within tormented clouds of agony, hatred and self-loathing.
According to author David Talbot in The Devil’s Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA, and the Rise of America’s Secret Government (Harper, 2015), p. 16, “Dulles fought both world wars in bars and hotels, surrounded by suave foreign agents and accommodating mistresses, and never firing a gun.”
Establishment professors and mainstream media taint Dulles with the “Nazi” label because they misunderstand Dulles’ deep penetration of Nazi networks during World War II. As we shall see, Dulles deliberately sought to gain a reputation inside the Third Reich as a Nazi sympathizer, planting false hopes in early 1945 that a conditional surrender by Hitler’s underlings would be amenable to the Allies.
