A dungeon horrible, on all sides round,
As one great furnace flamed; yet from those flames
No light; but rather darkness visible.
—John Milton, Paradise Lost
In the April 26 edition of the Wall Street Journal, Peggy Noonan wrote, “I wish to protest the current ugliness. I see it as a continuing trend, ‘the uglification of everything.”
She proceeds to briefly itemize it:
“You remember the 1999 movie ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley,’ from the Patricia Highsmith novel. It was fabulous—mysteries, murders, a sociopath scheming his way among high-class expats on the Italian Riviera. The laid-back glamour of Jude Law, the Grace Kelly-ness of Gwyneth Paltrow, who looks like a Vogue magazine cover decided to take a stroll through the streets of 1950s Venice…
“There’s a new version, a streaming series from Netflix, called ‘Ripley.’ I turned to it eagerly and watched with puzzlement. It is unrelievedly ugly. Grimy, gloomy, grim. Tom Ripley is now charmless, a pale and watchful slug slithering through ancient rooms. He isn’t bright, eager, endearing, only predatory. No one would want to know him! Which makes the story make no sense. …In the original movie, Philip Seymour Hoffman has an unforgettable turn as a jazz-loving, prep-schooled, in-crowd snob. In this version that character is mirthless, genderless, hidden. No one would want to know him either…
“The ugliness seemed a deliberate artistic decision, as did the air of constant menace, as if we all know life is never nice.
“I go to the No. 1 program on Netflix this week, ‘Baby Reindeer.’ People speak highly of it. It’s about a stalker and is based on a true story…It is again unrelievedly bleak. Life is low…No one is ever nice or kind; all human conversation is opaque and halting; work colleagues are cruel and loud. Everyone is emotionally incapable and dumb. No one laughs except for the morbidly obese stalker, who cackles madly. The only attractive person is the transgender girlfriend…
“I go to the Daily Mail website…it seems to have taken a turn and is more about crime, grime, human sadness and degradation—child abuse, mothers drowning their babies, ‘Man murders family, self.’
“I go to the new ‘Cabaret.’ Who doesn’t love ‘Cabaret’? It is dark, witty, painful, glamorous. The music and lyrics have stood the test of time. The story’s backdrop: The soft decadence of Weimar is being replaced by the hard decadence of Nazism.
“It is Kander and Ebb’s masterpiece, revived again and again. And this revival is hideous. It is ugly, bizarre, inartistic…Also obscene but in a purposeless way, without meaning…Everyone screams…Almost everyone on stage is weirdly hunched, like a gargoyle, everyone overacts, and all of it is without art…
“It isn’t an easy job to make the widely admired Eddie Redmayne unappealing, but by God they did it. As he’s a producer I guess he did it, too. He takes the stage as the Emcee in a purple leather skirt with a small green cone on his head and appears further on as a clown with a machine gun and a weird goth devil...At one point Mr. Redmayne dances with a toilet plunger, and a loaf of Italian bread is inserted and removed from his anal cavity. I mentioned this to my friend, who asked if I saw the dancer in the corner masturbating with a copy of what appeared to be Mein Kampf…No innocence is traduced because no innocence exists.
“…uglification is rising and spreading as an artistic attitude, and it can’t be good for us. Because it speaks of self-hatred, and a society that hates itself, and hates life… (End quote)
Noonan’s recitation may strike some as commonplace. Decline and Fall—all too-familiar and repetitive. We’re not shocked. Our loss of innocence began with a numbing. It proceeds to apathy, which deepens the malignancy. From there it devolves into a loss of the foundation of our humanity—what the Greek Stoics termed prosoché—the erosion of alert attention. After that, the assault on the pursuit of truth itself.
In March, former Wikipedia executive Katherine Maher was named CEO of National Public Radio (NPR). In a talk she gave in 2022 at Richard Saul Wurman's TED conference, which programs executives deeper into the woke orbit, Maher declared:
“For our most tricky disagreements, seeking the truth and seeking to convince others of the truth might not be the right place to start. In fact, our reverence for the truth might be a distraction that’s getting in the way of finding common ground and getting things done.”
Only a few decades ago no intellectual aspiring to a leadership position in the corporate world could have written, “truth might be a distraction that’s getting in the way of finding common ground,” and remain a candidate for a top slot in the corporation.
It would have been too glaringly Machiavellian or, to be more specific, too indicative of the occult praxis of the western secret societies spun from Plethon’s Illuminati and Rabelais’s Thelema. A revelation like Maher’s—that truth is an obstruction—requires a specially prepared audience processed to accept her Mephistophelian dictum without protest.
In century 21 the pursuit of truth is a diversion from the pursuit of power, the Left determined to vanquish the “Far-Right” at all costs. The natural law question to pose: If you’re not working for truth what is supposed to recommend your ideology to me? The answer emanates from a cave: we club our opponent over the head and dominate. You share in the booty accumulated as our ideology wins battles and eventually the war of ideas. But which ideas? Death on the installment plan.
The American death cult as presented in the media is filled with stories about hospices. Almost nothing appears with any regularity about mid-wives, home births or advances in natural obstetrics.
To signal your hipster status pose with your spouse or partner and a couple of dogs you rescued from the animal shelter. In this manner you proudly showcase your cool credentials—permanent infertility as the answer to climate change. (Adoption of children from foster homes is so passé!)
Baby-haters have no future. They want all of us to subscribe to their dystopia. One means for achieving that has been the assault on the central truth declared by God in the Book of Genesis, and the Son of God in the New Testament: marriage is between a man and a woman.
The overthrow of a reality hard-wired into Creation, and in its stead the enthronement of sterility misnamed matrimony, leads to the derogation of unborn human beings and their disposal—the consumer throwaway society in its most extreme manifestation. Everything rots in the presence of this waste of potential.
We are expected to believe that babies magically become human only when they emerge from their mothers. At that moment, all human rights are conferred upon them. One hour before that, if they are still in the womb, they can be legally killed, because it has been determined that they are not human. What a difference an hour makes!
When you detest your own progeny and kill hundreds of thousands of them each year with abortion, phenomenon like the uglification of our society which Noonan decries, will increase like malevolent fungi.
Everything is connected, and all that blood and all those slaughtered little ones, haunt our cemetery society despite our furious efforts to self-congratulate ourselves as kind and compassionate people who would never let a dog be euthanized at the pound. Unborn children? Well, that’s the way the mop flops.
What could be more Nazi? Outrage? Not in the Memory Hole.
Many of the middle class playboy men and feminist women who abort are the same ones who practice yoga, speak of karma and claim to desire the defense of all life, with the exception of unborn human life, which has been ruled non-human or even sub-human.
These Americans in their second-hand Buddhist and Hindu affiliations and pop culture, have been schooled in the inescapable fact that you reap what you sow. Yet they deny that killing one’s children generates a gale force wind that is blowing our nation apart, despite surface appearances of affluence and calm in gated communities and the enclaves of the rich and famous.
Life is cheap in America. We know this in the sub-cellar of our mentation and our spirits are decomposing in the presence of it. Every week in the U.S. a father takes a gun or a knife to his family and then to himself. Often relatives and friends say there was no discernible reason for what he did. “He just snapped.”
There’s no escaping the truth that the senseless killing of the born in many instances results from the dehumanization of the unborn, the most vulnerable and innocent, and conversely the least protected. A truly wholistic vision would discern that the marginalization of humans in the womb inevitably leads to the marginalization of people already born. It’s a forbidden truth.
Black people were denied their humanity under the transatlantic slave trade. If their humanity had been acknowledged, the trade could not have prospered. In America, the humanity of unborn human beings is denied and abortion is a multi-billion dollar industry.
America pretends to ignore this waking horror, oblivious; that however is not possible. The bloodshed is an unspoken yet massive presence in our psyches.
The grisly procedures used to destroy babies in the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth months of pregnancy are not allowed to be described in detail, or photographed, videotaped or broadcast. The horror is heavily censored. The coverup is not an issue. The corporate world has decided that under no circumstances are images or videos of abortions to be publicized, in the hope that we will go about the business of buying and selling, sports spectating and video game playing without a troubled conscience.
There is no escaping the consequences of killing the young on an industrial scale. Americans feel it at some level. We know precious children are rendered into blobs of carnage dumped for disposal daily; that human life, despite all of the protestations to the contrary, all of the ostentatious displays of liberal philanthropy and “caring,” is reduced to zero when an unborn baby gets in the way of our ego fulfillment.
Young conformists are herded into obtaining their cues from the likes of Greta Thunberg and Lady Gaga who preach childlessness, and abortion as a virtue. In the midst of the extirpation of babies, surrounded by the willful abandonment of truth, the herd revolts against the Order of Creation and bring upon themselves psychic death.
Those who despise the children of their own people will be capable of anything—any degradation, crime or perversion.
Their souls are rotting out of their gym-toned bodies and the love of self which has been promoted as the ultimate personal objective of the hip, chic and elite is nothing of the kind. Peggy Noonan:
“Uglification is rising…it speaks of self-hatred, and a society that hates itself, and hates life.”
The haters of human life imagine that hiding the operations of the abortion chambers and treating any reports that are leaked as dangerous pornography, will grant society immunity from the consequences of the mass destruction perpetrated. It is a vain presumption.
In century 21, Paradise Lost consists of an ‘unrelievedly ugly’ furnace hidden in the depths of the American landscape. It flames with the bodies of the children, pointing to an inescapable horror.
In the burning hell which America seeks to conceal we glimpse darkness visible. It is killing the minds of all who are implicated in the holocaust against the future of the human race.

What should be obvious to all is seen only by those who dare not look away, for fear of God's wrath: This exposes the root: "There’s no escaping the truth that the senseless killing of the born in many instances results from the dehumanization of the unborn ...." How could it be otherwise?
