Christian, Orthodox, so YES. One hears also St Basil the Great, writing on Psalm 29:
"The physical structure of the body is, speaking figuratively, a harp and an instrument harmoniously adapted for the hymns of our God; and the actions of the body, which are referred to the glory of God are a psalm, whenever in an appropriate measure we perform nothing out of tune with our actions."
Great article, Katya (Caterina). On Glenn Gould, I recommend the film "Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould", all about his life, and which has a lengthy segment of his performances in the Soviet Union. Also, the CD "The Glenn Gould Edition-J.S. Bach-Goldberg Variations-The Historic 1955 Debut Recording (Sony Classical). It consists of 34 mostly short tracks, Total time-46'11''.
You blew my cover, horrors! Glenn Gould was a powerful spokesman against Soviet repression of artists and musicians, thanked after his death by Voznesensky (poet) who had not known that he (Gould) brought down the wrath of the Soviet Press upon himself for such defense. In "Music in the USSR", broadcast Jan. 14, 1962 by the CBC, he did a marvelous talk and performance of Shostakovich and Prokoviev, both of whom had been "severely dealt with" but allowed to live. Shostakovich's "Leningrad Symphony" composed after the siege greatly heartened people. --There is a marvelous DVD called "Glenn Gould: The Russian Journey," put out by Telefilm Canada, which apart from the music is a very valuable testimony from citizen musicians about what they lived under. So there's another tragedy about art in our western society: the complete eclipse regarding Gould and the Russians.
Thank you for this. I regret to say that I've not read the book but have seen the movie. I ran across an old VHS copy of it in my Father's basement while visiting in 2022. It very much impressed me as a chilling indictment of life under communist rule, no doubt the moreso by having not yet fully emerged from the tail end of the coronavirus pandemic hysteria we were still living through at that time, and recognizing certain parallels. Yet in the back of my mind I had also wondered whether or to what extent the film was not also a part of US cold war propaganda.
In recent years I have also thought back to what I had learned in High School History class, about the alleged pretext for the war in Vietnam which was the so-called 'Domino Theory', long having held that thoery to have been another form of propaganda used to justify and sell the war of the day, yet, in light of what can be witnessed today in the West, when it is apparent especially among the younger generations, there are now a growing number of those who strongly sympathize with, if not outright zealously idolize communist and socialist ideology, in apalling ignorance of the historical record, the theory itself almost seems to have made sense.
But then one remembers that even prior to Vietnam, the CIA had already played a hand in raising Mao to power, or if one has read the findings of the Dodd Report from the Select Committee to Investigate Tax-Free Foundations on what the Rockefeller's et. al. had been up to in the 40's and 50's, or that America was already well on its way to instantiating some form of the '10 Planks' by then (c.f. - https://mises.org/mises-daily/marxism-lives), and one could easily be justified in pointing out that the powers that be had already been pushing over the same dominos they claimed to be holding up, in a remarkable act of theater, rendering the Vietnam war yet another bloodthirsty sacrifice of countless innocent lives to the Father of Lies.
I could go on about the symptoms, but here for some reason I am reminded of the opening quote from Michael's 'The Occult Rennaisance Church of Rome' which I am now (finally) reading: (Matthew 20:25-26) "You know that among the pagans the rulers lord it over them and their great men make their authority felt. This is not to happen among you." This, in my opinion closely sums up the unfortunate arc of human history, from one bloody war to the next, in so far as men and women of otherwise good conscience somehow continue allowing themselves to be mentally enslaved by other men and women whose authority over them is based on nothing other than lies. Was it not Solzhenitsyn who also said, Live Not By Lies?
a simply beautiful piece of writing.
Brilliant.

Thank you Mr Hoffman and Ms Rialto!
