Excellent article though brief. As a history buff in search of truth, I am knowledgeable of the atrocities you mention but would like to add to them.
I read a good book written by a Japanese citizen who lived in Hiroshima as a child during the war. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the ONLY two major cities that were not fire bombed. This was a preplanned live test of the effects of a new weapon.
When combining the German civilians murdered by the fire bombings with the murder of German POWs after the war, it far exceeds the total deaths of the entire war, military, civilians and the supposed 6 million jews.
These atrocities also showed up again in Korea and Cambodia. US bombings on North Korean civilians decimated the entire northern portion of the country, right down to the small village. We are then manipulated to believe that their leader is insane and the population brainwashed for their reactions to our aggressiveness.
When Americans and other countries begin to realize that the US government is a threat to the world and operates as the neighbor bully and criminal, maybe we will see a change, like BRICS. Unfortunately Americans will suffer the consequences of their actions before we can repair the damage. What will be required is a rewriting of our own history with the truth, and considering the depth of coercion this may take a civil war.

The official tale of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki is that cloud cover would not permit the bombing of the preferred target, therefore Nagasaki was the second, regrettable choice. This plausible denial was concocted because Nagasaki had a large Catholic-Japanese population, and if it were known that the US government intentionally targeted thousands of Christians for incineration, a greater sense of the iniquity of Truman's government would have been conveyed to the American people.

I wouldn’t want to engage in a numbers contest that entailed some sort of claim to greater victimhood on one side, due to a larger number of innocents killed. The intentional murder of German civilians should definitely be far better known. However, whether 6 million, 600,000 or 60,000 Judaic civilians were slaughtered in Europe during World War II, it would still be an incalculable tragedy and war crime.
Strive to transcend “our side” partisan jingoism. Let's mourn all of the innocent people who were murdered among all ethnicities during WWII.
